Long Four Acres

Our Long Four Acres Self Build scheme is a landmark for a self / custom build schemes in Norfolk, being set on the edge of a village and outside of the development boundary.  The site comprises of 15 serviced self / custom build plots set within the countryside.  Centred around Pro:work’s landscape led Design Code which provides a set of formal design criteria, specifically set out to allow flexibility for the self-builder, Long Four Acres aims to create one of the UKs leading self and custom build schemes.

The balance of creating a rich, contextual and formalised Design Code, with the flexibility to allow a varied pallet of buildings to occupy the site was a key challenge for Pro:works and Lanpro.  Directions on landscaping, materials, mass and proportion, were each carefully considered to ensure that the design guidance respects the sites rural context, without restricting innovation and individual homebuilder expression.  In addition, Using Pro:work’s experience of Passivhaus and low energy design, an emphasis on Fabric First and Passive Haus principles are also  included to encourage plot purchasers to consider designing their homes to be as efficient and sustainable as possible.
